Artist background: Born in Cairo in 1976, Ehab El-Laban obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education in 2000. El- Laban leads a dual career as a creator and as a cultural operator - his creative practice comprises a career of contemporary sculpture and is admired for his expressive abstract works.

Extensively participating in the Art Movement since 2001 by exhibiting in the Salon of Mini Works of Art, the Youth Salon, the National Art Exhibition and Aswan International Sculpture Symposia.

El-Laban achievements earned him the Jury prize in the 13th Youth Salon, the Grand Prix in the 14th edition and the Top Prize in the 15th Edition of the same Competition. Among El Labban’s important public works, are a granite statue in front of Kaytbay at Alexandria, and the monumental sculpture in the famous Open Air Museum in Aswan.

As a cultural operator, El Laban is the artistic director of theHorizon Gallery, one of the most spacious public venues, annexed to the Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum, in Guiza. El Laban has managed, co-directed and directed numerous local and international events such as Cairo Biennale (2008-2009) and the next edition (2010-2011) The Author’s and the Artist print (2006) and Contemporary Spanish Photography (2006).

The artist participated in several international sculpture events like the Aswan Sculpture Symposium, the Romania International Sculpture Symposium, and the Kuwait Symposium. Recently, he held a successful solo exhibition in Paris.
