Yoshin Ogata

Artist background: Yoshin Ogata was born in Miyakonojo, Japan. He exhibited his first sculptures in the 1969, at the Shinseisaku-Kyokai in Tokyo, and in the 1970 he moved in London where he studied at the British Museum. After a stint in the U.S. and in Mexico, where he went on developing his own research in the locals museums and Mayan archaeological sites, Ogata went to Italy in the early 70s, where he subscribed at Brera’s “Accademia di Belle Arti”, under the guidance of the sculptor Francesco Messina, then onto Florence, and finally Rome’s “Accademia di Belle Arti” under Emilio Greco.

In the 1973 he moved to Carrara and enrolled in the local “Accademia di Belle Arti”, where he finished the academic studies with Prof. Ticò.

He exhibited in Italy for the first time in the 1973, in the room reserved to foreign artists at Palazzo Strozzi, in Florence.

Since then and with the career spanning over 30 years, Yoshin Ogata has held regular solo exhibitions Internationally, won first prizes in numerous monumental sculpture awards including Beijing Olympic Sculpture park, and his works can be found in International private and public collections such as Museo d’Arte in Mechelen, Belgium; Severi Foundation, Pozza di Maranello, Italy and Miyazaki Airport in Japan.
